The Embodiment of Divine Strength and Devotion
There are 10 forms of Hanuman worship in Kali Yuga. Among them, the Panchamukha Hanuman form is very special. This form is called Hanuman's universal form.
During the war between Rama and Ravana, Rama's brother Lakshmana was captured by Mahiravana, the mighty demon king of the underworld. To rescue Lakshmana, Hanuman entered the underworld in search of Mahiravana. After an intense battle, Hanuman realized he could not defeat Mahiravana by simply killing him. The only way to kill Mahiravana was to extinguish five lamps (Deepa) lit in five different directions simultaneously. Hanuman assumed his Panchamukha (five-faced) form and extinguished all the five lamps at the same time, killing Mahiravana and rescuing Lakshmana.
